In the year 1943-44, the first 09 employment offices were established with the aim of removing the acute shortage of technical staff in the war. After that in 1945, the organization was entrusted with the responsibility of establishing the retrenched soldiers and auxiliary personnel of the army in the civil service in a systematic manner after the Second World War and the rehabilitation of the people displaced as a result of the partition of the country in 1947.
Due to the increasing popularity of the employment service, the government opened its scope to all categories of applicants in 1948, as a result, the employment office grew from a rehabilitation agency to an all-India planning agency. On 01 November 1956, on the basis of the recommendations of the Shivaram Committee, the day-to-day administration of the Employment Service was handed over to the State Governments. After the establishment of Chhattisgarh state, Employment Exchange is being known as its new name District Employment and Self Employment Guidance Center.
