Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification
Typist & Typist-Copyist
- Passed II PU (Pre-University) examination, OR 3-year Diploma in Commercial Practice, OR equivalent qualification.
- Typewriting examination in Kannada and English conducted by the Department of Public Instruction — Senior Grade for Typist, Junior Grade for Typist-Copyist — or equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of computer usage is mandatory for office work.
Process Server
- Passed SSLC examination or equivalent qualification.
- Preference to candidates holding a Motor Vehicle Driving License (HVM/LVM).
Peon
- Passed SSLC examination or equivalent qualification.
- Candidates must be able to read and write Kannada.
All eligibility criteria (educational qualification and age) must be fulfilled as on the last date of application submission, 06-11-2026.
Selection Process & Screening Clause
Typist & Typist-Copyist
- Skill Test: 15-minute dictation in Kannada and English to be typed on computers using special typewriter-imitation software. Kannada and English skill tests carry 100 marks each; minimum qualifying marks are 50 in each.
- Interview Shortlisting: Candidates called for interview in the ratio of 1:5 per post (as per reservation) based on the percentage of total marks in the prescribed educational qualification examinations and the skill tests.
- Interview: Marks equal to 5% of the maximum marks of the eligibility test are allotted for the interview.
- Selection List: Prepared in order of merit combining educational qualification marks, eligibility test percentage and interview marks.
Process Server & Peon
- Interview: 10 marks, based on the percentage of marks in the prescribed educational qualification examination.
- Shortlisting Ratio: 1:25 per post for Process Server, 1:10 per post for Peon (as per reservation).
- Selection List: Merit order based on interview marks; in case of a tie, the older candidate is ranked higher.
Shortlisted candidates for the Typist/Typist-Copyist posts will be called for the Kannada language test and the computer literacy test during their 2-year probation period. No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for appearing in the skill test or interview. The recruitment remains subject to the final judgment of the Hon'ble High Court of Karnataka in Writ Petition Nos. 200448/2025 c/w 17968/2025 and 3145/2023.
Required Documents & Instructions for Candidates

- II PUC / Diploma in Commercial Practice + typewriting certificates (for Typist and Typist-Copyist); SSLC marks card (for Process Server and Peon).
- Caste and income certificates: Form D (SC/ST), Form E (Category-1), Form F (Category-2A/2B/3A/3B), issued by the Tahsildar; SC candidates must provide a certificate showing Category A, B or C.
- Rural reservation Form-2 (General category also needs Form-1 certification), Kannada medium, ex-servicemen, persons with disabilities, project-displaced and transgender reservation certificates (as applicable).
- Disability certificate in the format prescribed by the Government notification dated 19-11-2005; age relaxation certificates (widows, ex-servicemen, etc.) as applicable.
- Conduct certificates from two respectable persons (within 6 months of application date) and from the last educational institution attended.
- Original photo ID proof (Voter ID / Aadhaar / Driving License / PAN / Passport) and admit card downloaded from the court website.
Key Instructions: Applications must be submitted online only — applications sent by post or in person will not be considered. Only one application per candidate is allowed; the last application submitted will prevail. All details entered (date of birth, qualification, reservation, age relaxation) cannot be changed after submission. Certificates must be valid on 06-11-2026. Fee payment must also be completed on or before 06-11-2026, followed by immediate e-verification. Candidates already in service must obtain a No Objection Certificate within 30 days of publication of the selection list.
