Eligibility for Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs)

  • Essential Qualification: At least Matriculation, possess the capacity for overall comprehension, and have a mindset to assist the needy in society. The applicant must demonstrate compassion, empathy, and concern for the upliftment of marginalized and weaker sections of society. They must also have an unflinching commitment to the cause, which should be reflected in their work.
  • Experience: Refer to official notification
  • Desirable: Refer to official notification
  • Eligible Groups: Teachers (including retired teachers); Retired Government servants and senior citizens; MSW students and teachers; Anganwadi Workers; Doctors/Physicians; Students and Law Students (till they enrol as lawyers); Members of non-political, service-oriented NGOs and Clubs; Members of Women Neighbourhood Groups, Maithri Sanghams, and other Self-Help Groups including of marginalized/vulnerable groups; Educated Prisoners with good behaviour serving long-term sentences in prisons; Widows of deceased defence personnel; Ex-servicemen or their dependents residing in civilian areas; Spouses or adult children of currently serving defence personnel; Any other person whom the District Legal Services Authority deems fit to be identified as a PLVs.
  • Nationality/Citizenship: Candidates must be Indian citizens and local residents of Darrang District.

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected through Shortlisting followed by Walk-in Interview and Training. Selected PLVs will be required to undergo a training programme as per the schedule of DLSA, Darrang.

About District Court Darrang

The Court of the District & Sessions Judge, Darrang, Mangaldai was inaugurated on 31st October, 1984 by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice T. S. Mishra , former Chief Justice of Hon’ble Gauhati High Court. Shri G. S. Choubey was the first District & Sessions Judge of this District Judiciary. The court of the Addl. District & Sessions Judge (FTC) was established on 1st December, 2001. Altogether the establishment of the District & Sessions Judge and the Chief Judicial Magistrate comprise 11 nos of Court manned by the Judicial Officers of various grades. The District & Sessions Judge is the Head of the Darrang District Judiciary and acts as the Judge in-charge of the District Court Complex . He is the President of the District Consumer Forum, Chairman of District Legal Services Authority, Darrang, Mangaldai and Member of MACT.
