Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Executive Trainee (Chemical)

• Essential: Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Chemical/Petrochemical/Chemical Technology/Petrochemical Technology/Chemical Technology & Polymer Science/Chemical Technology & Plastic Technology with minimum 65% marks.
• GATE Paper: Chemical Engineering (CH)

Eligibility for Executive Trainee (Instrumentation)

• Essential: Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Instrumentation/Instrumentation & Control/Electronics & Instrumentation/Electrical & Instrumentation/Electronics/Electrical & Electronics with minimum 65% marks.
• GATE Paper: Instrumentation Engineering (IN)

Eligibility for Executive Trainee (Electrical)

• Essential: Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Electrical/Electrical, Electronics & Power/Electrical & Electronics/Electrical & Power with minimum 65% marks.
• GATE Paper: Electrical Engineering (EE)

Eligibility for Executive Trainee (Mechanical)

• Essential: Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Mechanical/Production/Production & Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical & Automobile with minimum 65% marks.
• GATE Paper: Mechanical Engineering (ME)

Age Limit & Relaxation

The upper age limit is 26 years as on 18.03.2026. Age relaxations are applicable as follows:

• SC/ST: 5 years
• OBC (NCL): 3 years
• PwBD (General/EWS): 10 years
• PwBD (OBC-NCL): 13 years
• PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
• Ex-Servicemen: As per rules (deduction of service period)

Salary / Stipend

• Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 60,000 – 1,80,000/- at the Basic Pay of Rs. 60,000/- during the one-year training period as Executive Trainee in E-2 grade.
• On successful completion of training, candidates will be absorbed in the same Pay Scale in E-2 grade.
• Allowances: Basic Pay, Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA), perks & allowances under cafeteria approach, Performance Related Pay, Company Accommodation/Leased Accommodation/HRA, medical facility, group insurance, etc.

Selection Process

GAIL will utilize Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering - 2026 (GATE-2026) marks for recruitment. Eligible candidates must first register for GATE-2026 and appear in the relevant paper (CH, IN, EE, or ME). Based on GATE-2026 marks and requirements, candidates will be shortlisted for further selection process, which may include Group Discussion, Personal Interview, and Pre-Employment Medical Examination.

How to Apply

1. Register for GATE-2026 and appear for the exam in the relevant discipline.
2. Wait for the GATE-2026 Admit Card to be available.
3. Visit the GAIL website https://gailonline.com (Careers section) starting from 1100 hrs on 17.02.2026.
4. Fill out the online application form and enter your valid GATE-2026 Registration Number.
5. Upload required documents (Photo, Signature, GATE Admit Card, etc.).
6. Submit the application before 1800 hrs on 18.03.2026.
7. Keep a printout of the application form for future reference.

Note: Only one application is allowed per candidate. Applications without a valid GATE-2026 registration number will be rejected. Candidates must ensure they meet all eligibility criteria regarding marks (minimum 65% for General/EWS/OBC, 60% for SC/ST/PwBD) and age.
