  • Deputy Captain of Ports: Certificate of Competency as Master of Foreign going Steamship; Certificate of Sight test; 5 years experience as Chief Officer in Foreign going Steamship.
  • Marine Engineer & Ship Surveyor: Certificate of competency as 1st Class Engineer (Motor); 3 years experience as 2nd Class Engineer on board foreign going/home trade ships; Certificate of sight test.
  • Lecturer (Psychiatry): Recognised medical qualification (MBBS); Post-graduate degree in Psychiatry; 3 years experience as Senior Resident/Registrar/Tutor/Demonstrator.
  • Lecturer (Physics): Master's Degree in Physics with minimum First Class.
  • Assistant Archivist Grade-I: Master's Degree in Indian History; 2 years experience in research/teaching in Modern Indian History; Six-month Certificate Course in Portuguese Language.
  • Assistant Professor (Tabla): Master's Degree in Tabla with at least 55% marks; NET/SET qualified (or Ph.D. exempted as per UGC regulations).

Note for all posts: Knowledge of Konkani is essential. Knowledge of Marathi is desirable for most posts.

  • Deputy Captain of Ports: About 5 years experience as Chief Officer in Foreign going Steamship.
  • Marine Engineer & Ship Surveyor: 3 years experience as 2nd Class Engineer on board foreign going/home trade ships.
  • Lecturer (Psychiatry): At least three years experience as Senior Resident/Registrar/Tutor/Demonstrator in a recognised Medical College/Teaching Institution after the requisite post-graduate degree.
  • Assistant Archivist: Two years experience of research/teaching in Modern Indian History or work in relevant field.
  • Lecturer (Physics) & Assistant Professor (Tabla): Not specified.

About Goa Public Service Commission

The Goa Public Service Commission is a body created by the Constitution of India. The Commission advises the Government on all matters relating to State Civil Services referred to it under Article 320 (3) of the Constitution.

The requisitions from the Government are received in the form of proposals indicating number of vacancies in a particular post in a department or cadre and the mode of filling up the vacancies. The mode of filling up the posts is either by direct recruitment inviting applications from the open market or by way of promotion from lower grades which are called feeder grades. The recruitment is strictly governed and guided by Recruitment Rules framed by the Government under Article 309 of the Constitution under the advice from the Commission. In case of direct recruitment the Commission publishes advertisement, notifies the number of vacancies with requirements of essential qualifications and experience as per the Recruitment Rules.
