The High Court of Gujarat, in view of the guidelines of the Honāble Supreme Court in the case of Malik Mazhar Sultan & Anr. V/s. U.P.Public Service Commission & Ors. and 'The Gujarat State Judicial Service Rules, 2005', invites Online Applications from the eligible Practicing Advocates, for filling up, by Competitive Examination, approximately 34 vacancies (existing and future), in the cadre of District Judge, in the payĀscale of Rs. 51,650-Ā1240 -Ā 59,090-Ā1390-Ā63,260+ Allowances, as admissible under the Rules.

3. Essential Qualifications:Ā
(i) Candidate must possess a Degree in Law from a University recognized by law in India.
(ii) Candidate must be a practicing Advocate in Courts of Civil and/or Criminal jurisdiction on the last date fixed for submission of Online Applications and must have so practiced continuously for a period not less than Seven Years, immediately preceding as on the last date fixed for submission of the Online Application i.e. on 04/05/2022.
(iii) Candidate must possess Basic Knowledge of Computer Application / Operation, as set out by the Government of Gujarat in General Administration Department Resolution No. PRCH102005Ā1532ĀK, dated 30/09/2006 and No. CRRĀ10Ā2007Ā 120320ĀG.5, dated 13/08/2008.

Selection Procedure
(I) Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) (Tentatively scheduled on 3 rd July, 2022). [Total 02 Papers]
(ii) The language of the 'Question Papers' (I & II) of the Preliminary Examination, will be English.
(iii) Preliminary Examination Papers (Objective Type) shall be assessed / evaluated by the Computer, as per entries made on OMR Sheet. As the evaluation is being done on the Computer by Scanning, there is no human intervention and hence, queries relating to rechecking of the OMR Sheets, subsequent to the Preliminary Examination, will not be entertained by the High Court.
(iv) In view of amended RuleĀ5, viz. Clause (aa) of SubĀRule (2) of RuleĀ5 of āThe Gujarat State Judicial Service Rules, 2005ā, Candidates who have not passed Secondary as well as Higher Secondary Examination with subject of Gujarati (Higher Level/ First Language at both stages) are required to pass the vernacular (Gujarati) Language Proficiency Test as prescribed below and to secure minimum 40% Marks for being eligible for being called for Main Written Examination.
(v) To become eligible for Main Written Examination, the Candidate Ā has to secure 50% or more Marks in the Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) and must have also passed their Secondary and Higher Secondary Examinations with subject of Gujarati (Higher Level / First Language at both stages); OR has to secure 50% or more Marks in the Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) and 40% or more Marks in the Test of Gujarati Language, in case they have not passed their Secondary and Higher Secondary Examinations with subject of Gujarati (Higher Level / First Language at both stages).
(vi) The Marks obtained by the Candidates in the Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) as well as the Test of Gujarati Language shall not be taken into consideration for preparing the Final Merit of the candidates.
(B) VivaĀvoce Test (Interview) : (Tentatively scheduled in the month of September/OctoberĀ2022)
(i) VivaĀvoce Test shall be of 50 Marks.
(ii) The object of the VivaĀvoce Test is to assess the suitability of the candidate for the cadre, by judging the mental alertness, knowledge of law, clear and logical exposition, balance of judgment, skills, attitude, ethics, power of assimilation, power of communication, character and intellectual depth analytical ability and the like, of the candidate.
(iii) For being eligible to be included in the Select List, the candidate must obtain minimum 40% Marks in VivaĀvoce Test.
How to Apply:
ClosingĀ dateĀ forĀ submissionĀ ofĀ OnlineĀ Application 04/05/2022Ā (23:59Ā Hours)
(a) All eligible Candidates should apply āOnlineā, through the link provided on High Court Websites www.gujarathighcourt.nic.in OR in https://hcĀojas.gujarat.gov.in in the prescribed format.
(b) Candidate should have his/her own āregisteredā Mobile Number and the same should be kept active during the entire recruitment process, as āSMSā Alerts for the Tests, are also likely to be notified on the said Mobile Number, so registered in the Online Application.
(c) Steps for submitting Online Application through the HCĀOJAS Portal :
(i) Fill up all the āFieldsā given in Online Application, carefully, as per the Instructions, after thoroughly reading & understanding the entire Detailed Advertisement & the Instructions given at the appropriate places. The Candidate should specifically indicate 'Yes' or 'No' in the Field, āwhether you have passed Secondary as well as Higher Secondary Examination with subject of Gujarati (Higher Level/ First Language at both stages)ā
(ii) āSaveā the Online Application, by clicking āsaveā button.
(iii) Thereafter, a new window will be opened which displays Candidateās Application Number. This means, the Application has been saved. Candidates shall therefore note down the entire string of the Application No. (e.g. HCG/2022/96/11111). In this window, by clicking āShow Application Previewā Button, preview of the Application will be displayed on the screen of the Computer.
(iv) Thereafter, by using Application No. and Date of Birth, candidate is required to Upload his/her āScanned Photographā (latest) and āScanned Signatureā in the stipulated size & format [refer item 10(u)]. The Candidate shall ensure that, the uploaded āPhotographā & 'Signatureā are distinctly recognizable, after uploading. Note: Please ensure that the āScanned Signatureā of the Candidate alone is uploaded, which shall be verified by the High Court, at each stage, and if the āScanned Signatureā does not match with the signature of the Candidate, at the time of successive verification during the Recruitment Process, his/her Candidature is likely to be rejected forthwith.
(v) If necessary, by using the respective Application Number and Date of Birth, a candidate can edit his/her āOnline Applicationā, through āEdit Applicationā option until he/she confirms the āOnline Applicationā, by clicking the āConfirm Applicationā button. Please note that, after such āConfirmationā, further editing of oneās Online Application, will not be possible.
(vi) Please Note that only after āConfirmation and Payment of requisite Examination Feesā, the āSystemā will register your āOnline Applicationā, which will be considered valid.
(vii) Thereafter, Candidate will get a SMS communication, conveying to him/her the Confirmation Number, on the āregisteredā Mobile Number. This Confirmation Number should be securely āpreservedā by the Candidate, till the end of the Recruitment Process, for downloading the āeCallĀletterĀcumĀAdmission Slipā etc.
(viii) The Candidate is now required to pay the requisite Fees by clicking āPrint Application/Pay Feeā Button. Carefully follow the Instructions/Help given thereat. Select the Mode of Payment i.e. Online Payment or SBI Branch : OfflineCash (Challan will be generated Online, by Selecting 'Cash' Option)
(ix) At the end of the process, the Candidate shall take āPrint outsā of his/her Confirmed Application on A4 size (letter size) Paper only, by clicking āPrint Applicationā the Main Option given in Menu, during the Online Registration Window period.
(x) Please note that the Candidate is not required to send copy of his/her Online Application and/or any testimonials/documents to the High Court. They should produce the same, as and when called for.
(d) TheĀ CandidatesĀ shallĀ fillĀ upĀ theĀ required Ā dataĀ inĀ the Ā Online ApplicationĀ inĀ accordanceĀ withĀ the Ā āInstructionsā.Ā Applications which Ā areĀ notĀ inĀ accordance Ā withĀ the Ā āInstructionsā Ā shallĀ be summarilyĀ rejected.
(e) TakeĀ aĀ noteĀ thatĀ theĀ aboveĀ isĀ theĀ generalĀ procedureĀ forĀ applying Online. Ā No Ā Application, Ā through Ā any Ā other Ā mode Ā or incompleteĀ Applications,Ā willĀ beĀ acceptedĀ andĀ inĀ suchĀ case,Ā the ApplicationĀ willĀ beĀ rejectedĀ outright.
