About Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education
The genesis of the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) can be traced to the late 1960's, when some scientists at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) got interested in the problem of improving the quality of science education in the country. These scientists, on a voluntary basis, undertook programmes in the schools of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and in rural Madhya Pradesh. As the activities grew, a strong need was felt for institutional support, to systematically carry out field projects, do relevant basic research in science education, and to bring out good educational materials.
Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) was established in the year 1974. It is located in Mumbai. HBCSE is a National Centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai. The goals of the Centre are to promote equity and excellence in science and mathematics education from primary school to undergraduate college level. It carries out - Research and Development, Teacher Orientation and Science Popularisation, and Olympiads and other Students' Nurture Programmes. It carries out Olympiad programmes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Astronomy. Another major program of the centre is the National Initiative on Undergraduate Science (NIUS). Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education recruitment offers great career opportunities for several posts such as Project Assistant (Biology), Project Assistant, Scientific Assistant, Project Scientific Officer, Project Work Assistant, Project Tradesman (Plumber), Clerk, Senior Software Developer. Interested candidates can pursue courses in B.Sc. degree or M. Sc. Degree in any stream of Biology, B.Sc. degree in Chemistry or M. Sc. Degree in Chemistry + knowledge of software for word processing (e.g. MS Word), Spread sheet (e.g. MS Excel), Graphics (e.g. Corel, Photoshop) and web designing, graduate/post graduate + Spoken and Written knowledge of English, Mathematics Graduate, M.Sc. degree in Physics, graduate/post graduate, SSC (10th Class), SSC + ITI i.e. National Trade Certificate (NTC) in Plumbing, M.Sc. in any Physical Science or Biology, Graduate + Knowledge of typing and use of personal Computers and applications, for a great career at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education.
