The Department of Earth Sciences at IIEST Shibpur has notified a single Project Assistant position under the DST-INSPIRE sponsored research project.

Project Title: “Unveiling Climate Dynamics from the Miocene to Holocene in the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea through High-Resolution Microfossils Studies and Geochemical Analyses Integrated with Cal/Val Mathematical Modelling Techniques to Predict the Future Climatic Trends”, sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology (DST-INSPIRE), Government of India.

Project Duration: The appointment is co-terminus with the project, extending up to August 2030.

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

• Project Assistant: B.Sc. in Applied Geology / Geology / Earth Sciences from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualifications (for preference in shortlisting):

• M.Sc. in Applied Geology / Geology / Earth Sciences from a recognized University.
• M.Sc. with specialization in Palaeontology / Sedimentology.
• Basic knowledge of palaeoclimate and palaeoenvironmental studies.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

The selection process consists of two stages:

1. Shortlisting: Applications received by email will be scrutinized and shortlisted before the interview. Only shortlisted candidates will be communicated the interview date via their provided email ID and phone number.
2. Interview: An interview will be conducted at the Department of Earth Sciences, IIEST Shibpur, Howrah. The exact interview date will be notified to shortlisted candidates via email.
