1. Position: Research Associate

2. Job Profile for Research Associate:

a. Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) invites applications for the recruitment of at least two (02) Research Associates (RAs) purely on a temporary basis for a project assessing the drivers of and impact of cancer in India.

b. The appointment will be for a period of three months initially. This may be extended for another three months based on the candidate’s performance.

c. Candidates should have an overall good track record with good oral and written communication skills in English.

Track I.

The first part of the project will focus on a data-driven decision-making framework for early detection and screening of cancer. The RAs are expected to work with the faculty and assist in building statistical models and analysing relevant data. They will also work on developing sophisticated AI/ML tools for cancer detection.

3. Qualifications: Essential: (i) Master’s degree in Statistics/Data Science, or related field, (ii) programming experience in R/Python, (iii) knowledge in AI/ML.

4. Desirable: (i) Experience in Biostatistics, epidemiology, and public health, (ii) experience in developing R Shiny applications, (iii) experience in handling radiological image data.

5. The requirement of a Master’s for both the tracks may be relaxed depending on the experience of the candidates.

Track II.

a. The second part of the project aims to assess the socio-economic and psychological impacts of cancer in India. The RAs are expected to assist the faculty in developing primary survey instruments and analysing the data. The position offers an opportunity to develop and work with micro as well as macro data on cancer incidence in India.

b. The ideal candidate is expected to have excellent data science skills and have a keen interest in public health, health economics, development economics, or social psychology.

6. Qualifications: 

a. Essential: (i) Master’s degree in Economics/Public Policy/Psychology, (ii) proficiency in statistical software (preferably Stata or R), (iii) knowledge of introductory econometrics.

b. Desirable: (i) Familiarity with nationally representative secondary datasets, (ii) experience in primary data collection.

7. The requirement of a Master’s for both the tracks may be relaxed depending on the experience of the candidates.

8. A consolidated monthly pay of maximum Rs. 30,000/- (Rupees Thirty Thousand only) shall be offered to the selected candidates.
