Educational Qualification: M.Sc
Applications are invited from Indian nationals to work as ‘Project Associate 1’ in a research project entitled “Understanding the regional micro-climate impact on Karakoram-Himalayan glaciers and quantifying the role of Western Disturbances in governing their mass balance: past and future, a climate model assessment” sponsored by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India.

1. Name of position: Project Associate 1
2. No. of position: 1 (One)
3. Duration: For one year, extendable up to the duration of the project subject to satisfactory performance.
4. Location: Dr. Pankaj Kumar’s group (Climate & Glacier Modelling Lab), EES Department.
5. Essential: Masters degree in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science or any disciplines related to Environmental Science from a recognized University/ Institution. Good experience in the field of regional or global modelling of the climate or Earth system, preferably experience with limited-area climate models and their coupling with other earth system model components.
6. Desirable:
a. A Ph.D. degree in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science or any disciplines related to Environmental Science from a recognized University/ Institution.
b. Familiarity with the analysis of data sets from climate models. Knowledge in appropriate programming languages such as FORTRAN, Python and R; shell scripting.
c. Working experience in Linux/Unix environments.
d. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, as well as a record of peer reviewed publications in order to demonstrate the skill to publish the work in scientific journals.
e. Handling of a large volume of data and conversant with data format like NetCDF, HDF, GRIB etc. Ability to work in groups.
7. Salary: 31,000/- + Admissible H.R.A

Selection Procedure
Shortlisted candidates will be called for online interview. The candidate selected will be required to join as early as possible. The suitable candidate may get relaxation from desirable qualifications.
