IIT Dharwad is an Institute of National Importance created by an Act of Parliament in 2016. IIT Dharwad has been steadily establishing its operations in its present campus while at the same time, master plan development and construction of permanent campus infrastructure are also in progress. To cater the Institute’s temporary requirement under a project in the Department of Mechanical Materials & Aerospace Engineering; IIT Dharwad intends to hold an Online Selection Process for the following temporary position:

1. Name of the Position: Junior Research Fellow (On Contract)

2. Number of Positions: 01

3. Essential Qualification Post Graduate or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (fluid and thermal sciences or relevant to combustion) or equivalent selected through a process described through any one of the following:

a. Scholars who are selected through GATE

b. The Selection process through National level examination conducted by IIT.

4. Desirable Qualification: Strong orientation towards fluid mechanics or thermal engineering preferably with experience in combustion Strong orientation towards performing experiments and analysing the data 2D/3D drawing, and modelling parts/components skills, and Knowledge in numerical flow simulations are preferable

5. Consolidated Emoluments: ₹31,000/-+ 16% House Rent Allowance per month

6. Duration of the tenure: Maximum 2 years

7. Tenure of appointment: The appointment for the above contractual position will be initially for 01 (one) year, which may be curtailed or extended based on the performance of the candidate, availability of funds in the project and requirement in the project. The appointment will be co-terminus with the project.

b. Calibration of instruments and performing experiments

c. Data analysis and numerical simulations

d. Report and presentation of the research work

e. Administrative activities related to the project
