Educational Qualification: M.Sc, M.Phil/Ph.D
1. Position: Small Animal House Facility Scientist In-charge
2. No. of Vacancy: 1 (One)
3. Duration: Three Year
4. Tenure of the post: Initially for three years but likely to be extendable subject to the candidate's performance.
5. Place of Posting: IISER Kolkata Mohanpur
6. Salary: Consolidated Rs. 80,000 (per month)
7. Essential Qualifications: Ph.D. in Life Sciences / Biology or associated field with minimum 55% marks in MSc or equivalent degree and at least two/three first-author publications in the peer-reviewed international journal where the candidate used experimental small animals.
8. Desirable Qualification
a) Candidates must have thorough training in animal handling animal breeding.
b) The candidate should have the experience to work with BSL-2 pathogens in Animal BSL-2facilities.
c) They must have the leadership quality to coordinate with faculty, students, and other users and lead the team for the animal experiments.
d) They must have the administrative ability to coordinate the day-to-day administration at thefacility.
e) Good communication skills, energetic and will be expected to engage in interdisciplinaryand collaborative research work.
f) Pro-efficient in logical thinking and independent execution of the entire facility functioning.
g) Candidate preferably should know about IV injection, IP injection, blood collectionfrom a small animal.
h) Preferably candidates should know animal dissection, tissue harvesting,processing, sectioning, staining, and microscopy.
i) Knowledge about genotyping for the identification and authentication of animal stains is essential.
j) Knowledge of animal house sterility and bacterial floor testing system is preferred.
9. Job description:
a) All the jobs related to the establishment of the facility concerned and the coordination of the day-to-day administration at the facility.
b) Candidates must be involved in animal experimentation and animal breeding and training students and staff members.
c) Supervising experiments and leading the team for the animal experiments in BSL-2 pathogens in Animal BSL-2 facilities in coordination with faculty, students, and other users.
d) Helping faculties, staff members, and students in IV, IP, ICinjection, blood collection,and guiding students for sample preparation.
e) Help in experimentation by animal dissection, tissue harvesting, processing, sectioning, staining, and microscopy.
f) Training staff members for genotyping.
g) Coordinating with Veterinarians to maintain the health of the small animal.
h) Administering and maintaining the stock of small animal bedding and food
i) Facilitating arranging IAEC meetings helping faculties write animal protocols, and liaising with CPCSEA.

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata (IISER Kolkata) was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education), Government of India. IISER Kolkata is designed to reach the prestigious position in the global setting that IISc, IIMs and IITs presently enjoy. IISER Kolkata is an autonomous institution awarding its own degrees.
