Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Driver

  • Essential Qualification: Must have retired on superannuation from Driver Cadre of DAE and its Constituent Units on or before 31/12/2025. Must be below the age of 65 years.
  • Experience: N/A
  • Desirable: N/A
  • Licence Requirement: Must possess a valid driving licence for Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) and Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) issued by the Competent Authority. The licence must be valid throughout the currency of re-engagement.
  • Medical Fitness: Must be medically fit to perform driving duties (Medical Fitness Certificate required from appropriate Government Authority).
  • Background Check: Applicants against whom departmental proceedings or criminal cases are contemplated/pending, or who have been penalized for misconduct in the preceding 10 years, are not eligible.

Terms of Re-engagement

  • Duration: Initial period not exceeding one year, extendable by another one year at the discretion of the department. Maximum extension up to 05 years after superannuation.
  • Leave: 1.5 days of Paid leave for each completed month of service. No accumulation allowed beyond the calendar year.
  • Allowances: Fixed Transport Allowance @ 50% of the Transport Allowance drawn at retirement. TA/DA allowed on official tours as per entitlement at the time of retirement.
  • Exclusions: No DA/DR, HRA, Increment, or PRIS applicable. No contribution to GPF or Gratuity.

Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) was set up at Kalpakkam in 1971 with the main objective of conducting a broad-based multidisciplinary programme of scientific research and advanced Engineering, directed towards the development of sodium cooled Fast Breeder Reactor [FBR] technology, in India.
