5. Qualification: Candidates should have completed either a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Physics/Mathematics/Computer Science/IT/Computer Applications) (OR) Bachelor’s Degree (B.E, B.Tech. or equivalent) in Engineering (Computer Science / ECE/EEE/IT) from a reputed College / Institution.
6. Experience: Minimum 03-05 years
7. Desirable: Experience in a similar position in a reputed academic institution.
8. Essential Skills: Linux/Mac/Windows System administration Knowledge of computer architecture, storage and computer networking Proficiency in Unix/Linux shell scripts, C++, Python, PHP Maintenance of software and hardware infrastructure in large data-centres Knowledge of multimedia projection, Video- conferencing, web-casting, etc. Knowledge of web applications, content management. Knowledge of IT security Ability to learn on the job Strong interpersonal skill and the ability to function in team environment Knowledge of tender processing and inventory management;
9. Desirable Skills:Work experience in maintaining LINUX/UNIX systems in a LAN environment Well versed in problem solving and trouble shooting Knowledge of database management systems Knowledge of HPC cluster management Proficiency in programming languages MySQL, Perl, Java, in addition to essential skills in C+, PHP, Python, Unix Shell Scripting Experience in MPI, GPU coding
10. Job Description: The Scientific Officer ‘C’ is responsible for overall management and effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, maintenance of system hardware, software and related infrastructure, as well as co-ordination of project staff. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure as well as its day-to-day maintenance and upgrade.
a. This individual ensures the related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, student, faculty members to carry out multiple activities in collaboration with national and international agencies. Readiness for maintaining the facility on 24x7 is essential.
11. Higher starting salary could be considered for deserving candidates.

Selection Procedure
1. Level I: Written test :
a. Objective type test will be held at Chennai only: Applicants who fulfill the eligibility criteria only will be screened-in and called for Written test and the date, time and venue will be intimated through Email separately besides displaying the list of screened-in applicants on our web-site. Written test will be only qualifying exam / screening test to shortlist candidates for Practical Test and Interview.
2. Level – II Practical test & Interview : They will be held on a different date at Chennai only within a month from the date of Written Test on successful completion of document verification.
b. The candidates who are shortlisted only will be called for Practical Test and Interview on the basis of cut off marks and the date, time and venue will be intimated separately through Email, besides displaying the list of shortlisted candidates on our web-site. If there is more than one candidate with the same cut off mark, then all the candidates with the same marks will be shortlisted for Practical Test and Interview. However, obtaining the cut-off marks alone does not entitle a candidate to be called for Practical Test & Interview and it is subject to successful completion of document verification as detailed below:
c. Document verification: Candidates would be required to produce the relevant certificates in original for verification and submit one set of attested copies for records before the commencement of Practical Test & Interview. If certificates produced by candidates are not valid, such candidates will not be permitted to appear for Practical Test and Interview. Further, their candidature will be cancelled.
3. Final selection / Empanelment criteria Marks obtained in interview only will be considered for final selection / empanelment
4. Only screened in applicants will be called for written test. Only shortlisted candidates as explained above will be called for Practical Test and Interview.
5. Candidates will be shortlisted for written examination on the basis of the information provided by them in their applications. They must ensure that such information is true. If at any subsequent stage or at the time of examination if any information given by them or any claim made by them in their application is found to be false, their candidature will be liable to be rejected and also liable for any other appropriate action as deemed fit.
How to Apply:
Candidates who have not acquired required educational qualification as on the closing date for receipt of application (i.e. 28/01/2022) need not apply. No further correspondence or clarification can be entertained on this matter.
2. Candidates are required to have a valid Email ID and Mobile Number & convey the same in the application. It should be kept active during the currency of this recruitment. IMSc will send intimation / call letters for written examination only through the registered email ID.
3. Before applying for the post, candidates should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility norms. Candidates should have the requisite Educational & other Qualifications from recognised University / Institute as on the date of submission of the application.
4. Incomplete applications shall be summarily rejected

The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), founded by Alladi Ramakrishnan in 1962, is an autonomous national institution for fundamental research in the areas of Theoretical Physics, Mathematics, Theoretical Computer Science and Computational Biology. The Institute is governed by a Board and an Academic Council. The present Director of the institute is V. Ravindran.
Research at IMSc is supported by the Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India and by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
The Institute has a vibrant academic program, including an active PhD program to which a select group of students are admitted every year. IMSc also supports a large number of scientists at the post-doctoral level and hosts a visiting scientist programme. The Institute organizes several national and international scientific meetings annually. IMSc is also involved in a range of outreach activities for schools, colleges and the general public. The Institute Annual Reports summarize ongoing research and other institute activities.
