1. Name of the Post: Lab Technician (CRSS study)

6 . About the study: ‘Congenital Rubella Syndrome Surveillance in India’ multicentric study, coordinating institute - National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE), Chennai. The study will continue till November 2022 and may be extended further.
7 . Job profile:
a) Collect, transport, label, analyze and properly store collected biospecimens at the site. The analysis will include ELISA and RT-PCR.
b) Maintain laboratory records in the CRF. Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.
c) Maintain equipment logs, calibration logs and ensure smooth functioning of equipment.
d) Package and send samples to the National Institute of Virology, Pune
e) Design and execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures.
f) Organize and store all biospecimens according to safety instructions
g) Maintain equipment and stock register of laboratory supplies and funds received
h) Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment
8 . Qualifications and Experience: Essential B.Sc / Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology
9. Desirable Qualification: One year work experience in Medical Microbiology/Virology Hands-on Experience preferably in molecular techniques especially Real time PCR
10. Skills:
a) Molecular techniques especially Real time PCR
b) Computer skills including proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications
c) Good organizational behavior, problem solving skills and recording data.
d) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and investigators

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) can trace its origins to the ‘Ecole de Medicine de Pondicherry’ established by the French Government in 1823. In 1956 foundation for new medical college was laid and in 1964, hospital was inaugurated. JIPMER became an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India in the year 2008. It is an institution established for teaching, research and patient care in the area of health. JIPMER spreads over 192 acres. The institution houses one administrative block, one academic centre, one nursing college, seven hospital blocks, seven accessory services buildings and four residential complexes. 12 broad types of medical, nursing and allied health science courses covering all disciplines in healthcare from basic to super speciality training are conducted.
Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) is a medical school located in Pondicherry. JIPMER imparts undergraduate and postgraduate medical training & has a working hospital which provides inexpensive medical care to patients. Undergraduate courses include MBBS, BSc (Medical Laboratory Technology), BMRSc (Bachelor of Medical Record Science). BSc (Nursing). Postgraduate courses like MD, MS, and a diploma in many specialties, MSc in Medical Biochemistry and Ph.D. in several subjects. Super-specialty courses include MCh in cardiothoracic surgery, urology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, pediatric surgery, gastrointestinal surgery and DM in cardiology, neurology, urology, neonatology, clinical pharmacology and immunohematology.
