Consumer Protection: The commission safeguards the rights and interests of electricity consumers. It resolves consumer complaints and disputes related to billing, quality of service, and other issues.

Grid Code and Standards: The JERC formulates and enforces regulations regarding the technical and operational standards for electricity transmission and distribution systems, ensuring grid reliability and stability.

Promotion of Competition: It encourages competition in the electricity sector, facilitates open access to transmission and distribution networks, and promotes the development of a competitive market for electricity.
