Andhra Pradesh Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (APKGBV) is a government initiative in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh aimed at providing quality education to girls from marginalized communities. The program was launched in 2005 as part of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) scheme, which is implemented throughout the country.

The objective of APKGBV is to bridge the gender gap in education and promote the empowerment of girls by providing them with access to education, particularly in rural and remote areas. The program focuses on girls belonging to disadvantaged communities, including Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and minorities.

The KGBV schools in Andhra Pradesh are residential schools that provide free education, boarding, and lodging facilities to the enrolled girls. These schools follow the curriculum prescribed by the Andhra Pradesh State Education Department and offer education from Class VI to X. The curriculum includes subjects such as languages, mathematics, science, social studies, and vocational skills.

In addition to academic education, the APKGBV program also emphasizes the holistic development of girls. Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalya (KGBV) scheme was launched in July 2004, for setting up residential schools at appear primary level for girls belonging predominantly to the SC, ST,OBC and minority communities. The scheme is being implemented in Educationally Backward Blocks (EBBs) of the country where the female rural literacy is below the national average and gender gap in literacy is above the national average. The scheme provides minimum reservation of 75 per cent of the seats for girls belonging to SC, ST communities and priority for the remaining 25 per cent, is accorded to girls from families below poverty line. The Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidylaya scheme was merged with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in the XIth Plan with effect from 1st April, 2008.
