🎯 Selection Process
For Technical Assistant / Technician ‘B’ / Draughtsman ‘B’
Selection consists of a Written Test followed by a Skill Test.
- Written Test: 80 multiple-choice questions, 1 mark each, 90 minutes duration. Negative marking of 0.33 marks per wrong answer. Syllabus is curriculum-based, testing both theoretical and practical knowledge.
- Skill Test: Based on written test performance, candidates are shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio (minimum 10 candidates) for the skill test. The skill test is purely 'Go/No-Go' — marks scored in it are not counted toward final selection.
- Final Selection: Made purely on written test marks among candidates who qualify the skill test. In case of a tie, academic marks of the notified qualification serve as the tie-breaker.
Qualifying Marks
| Category | Written Test (out of 80) | Skill Test (out of 100) |
|---|---|---|
| Unreserved | 32 | 50 |
| Reserved (only if post is reserved) | 24 | 40 |
For Post No. 802 (Fireman ‘A’)
Selection consists of a Written Test, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and Detailed Medical Examination (DME).
- Preliminary Medical Examination (PME): Applicants must submit a PME Certificate along with the application, issued by a Registered Medical Practitioner not below the rank of Assistant Civil Surgeon (Allopathy) in Government Health Services.
- Written Test: 80 multiple-choice questions, 1 mark each, 120 minutes duration, with 0.25 negative marking per wrong answer. Syllabus covers basic chemistry, pressure-volume-temperature relations, mensuration, properties of gases, basic electricity and hazards, properties of water, and General Knowledge.
- PET: Based on written test marks, PME-qualified candidates are shortlisted for PET in a maximum 1:50 ratio (based on vacancies). PET is conducted in two stages, purely on a 'Go/No-Go' basis; failing any event disqualifies the candidate.
- DME: Candidates who clear both PET stages undergo a Detailed Medical Examination. Only one chance is given; failing DME means the candidate won't be considered for the final panel.
- Final Selection: Final selection panel is drawn, from among DME-qualified candidates, in order of written test marks.
Note: No compensation is payable for any injury, disability, or death arising from participation in the PET; candidates participate at their own risk and must submit a declaration to this effect.
