Educational Qualification: M.Sc
Applications are invited for the post of one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to work on the following research project funded by DST-SERB at the Department of Botany, Mizoram University, Aizawl.
1. Post Name: Junior Research Fellow
2. Title of the Project: Assessment of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungal (AMF) Community Associated with Jhum Rice (Oryza sativa L.) in Mizoram: Screening and Evaluation of AMF Symbiosis to Enhance Rice Plant Photosynthetic Efficiency, Phosphorus Content and Antioxidative Response under Drought Stress.
3. Project duration: 3 years (36 months)
4. Eligibility: Candidate having M.Sc. degree (with at least 55% mark) in Botany/Plant Science/Life Science or relevant area with NET (JRF/LS)
5. Emoluments: Rs. 31,000/- pm + 8% HRA (1st & 2nd years) and Rs. 35,000/- pm + 8% HRA (3rd year) as eligible

Selection Procedure
1. The shortlisted candidates will be informed through email for an interview.
2. Physical/Skype/Google Meet-based interview will be conducted on 1st March 2022. The time of the interview will be informed through email.

Mizoram University was established by an Act of Parliament (No. 8 of 2000) and became operational on 2nd July, 2001. Located on the outskirts of Aizawl, the capital city of Mizoram, the university spreads over 978.1988 acres. Before becoming an independent institution, it functioned as the Mizoram Campus of the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, and was led by a Pro-Vice Chancellor. At that time, the campus comprised seven postgraduate departments: Economics, Education, English, Forestry, Mizo, Psychology, and Public Administration. Over the last 22 years, Mizoram University has achieved significant growth in infrastructure, academic programs, manpower, and support services.
The university earned an ‘A’ grade accreditation from NAAC in 2014 and 2019 and further upgraded to A+ in 2025. It also obtained ISO Certification in 2018. Consistently recognized among India’s top institutions, Mizoram University secured positions within the top 100 universities from 2016 to 2023 as per the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) by MHRD. In the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2022, it secured the 1st rank in the North-East region of India. Additionally, it was ranked 1st among central universities in the North-East region by achieving the 13th position in the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2023’s Top 20 Central Universities category. Its NIRF rankings were 76th in 2023 and 77th in 2024.
Currently, Mizoram University has 39 active academic departments offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs organized under 10 Schools of Study. It includes 40 affiliated colleges and one constituent college. It is among India’s pioneering universities, having successfully implemented the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) since 2013. Aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the university is progressing towards providing broad-based, multidisciplinary, and holistic educational programs at both UG and PG levels.
