Appointment of Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, Lumami (A Central University) The Vice-Chancellor, being the academic as well as administrative head, is expected to be:
1. Post Name : Vice Chancellor
2. Salary and Service Conditions :
a) The post carries a pay of Rs. 2,10,000/- (Fixed) per month with Special Allowance of Rs. 11,250/- and other usual allowances.
b) The terms and conditions of the services will be those as set forth in the Act, Statutes and Ordinances of the University.

Establishment and Jurisdiction
Established on September 6, 1994, the university functions under the jurisdiction of the entire state of Nagaland. Previously, the region fell under the catchment area of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), with campuses in Kohima and SASRD-Medziphema. With the inception of Nagaland University, these campuses and affiliated colleges were integrated into its framework, marking a significant milestone in regional development.
Headquarters and Infrastructure
The official headquarters is located in Lumami. Following its establishment, the university functioned from an interim headquarters in Kohima for nearly a decade and a half. Academic departments were sanctioned in 1997 and established at Lumami while administrative operations remained in Kohima. Following substantial construction and infrastructure development, the university fully shifted its headquarters to Lumami in mid-2010.
