Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Professor (Epidemiology) - Medical

  • Essential: Medical qualification included in the first or the second schedule or part II of the third schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Holders of educational qualifications included in part II of the third schedule should also fulfil the conditions stipulated in section 13(3) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. MD (CHA) / MD (PSM) / MD (Community Medicine)/DNB (SPM) recognized by the NMC (erstwhile MCI).
  • Experience: A minimum of eight years' of post PG teaching experience in a permitted/approved/recognized Medical College/ Institution as faculty including three years' experience as Associate Professor in the subject. Should have at least four Research Publications (at least two as Associate Professor). Should have completed the Basic course in Medical Education Technology and Basic course in biomedical research from Institution(s) designated by NMC.
  • Desirable: Three years' administrative experience in a responsible position. Experience of working in the field of health and family welfare. Experience in conducting epidemiological studies / surveys.

Eligibility for Reader (Community Health Administration)

  • Essential: Medical qualification included in the first or the second schedule or part II of the third schedule (other than licentiate qualification) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Holders of educational qualifications included in part II of the third schedule should also fulfil the condition stipulated in section 13(3) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Post-graduate degree such as MD(CHA)/MD(PSM)/MD (Community Medicine) or equivalent degree of a recognised university/Institute.
  • Experience: Five years' experience as Lecturer/Assistant Professor in the subject concerned in a Medical College/recognised Institute. Evidence of published work of high quality during last 5 years.
  • Desirable: One year administrative experience in a responsible position.

About National Institute of Health & Family Welfare

The National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW), was established on 9th March, 1977 by the merger of two national level institutions, viz. the National Institute of Health Administration and Education (NIHAE) and the National Institute of Family Planning (NIFP). The NIHFW, an autonomous organization, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, acts as an ‘apex technical institute’ as well as a ‘think tank’ for the promotion of health and family welfare programmes in the country.

The Institute addresses a wide range of issues on health and family welfare from a variety of perspectives through the departments of Communication, Community Health Administration, Education and Training, Epidemiology, Management Sciences, Medical Care and Hospital Administration, Population Genetics and Human Development, Planning and Evaluation, Reproductive Bio-Medicine, Statistics and Demography and Social Sciences.
