Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for Chief Nursing Officer
- Essential Qualification: Officers of Central/State Govt/UT Administration/Autonomous/Statutory Bodies holding analogous posts on regular basis with 5 years of regular service in the grade of Nursing Superintendent or similar capacity.
- Experience: Not less than 17 years’ experience in the Nursing Cadre.
- Qualifications:
1. B.Sc in Nursing or equivalent from recognized University/Institutes.
2. DPN/DNN OR M.Sc in Psychiatric/Neuro Nursing from recognized University/Institutes. - Desirable: Should have published once in every two years a research paper in a journal of national standing and repute.
Eligibility for Nursing Superintendent
- Essential Qualification: Officers of Central/State Govt/UT Administration/Autonomous/Statutory Bodies holding analogous posts on regular basis with 3 years of regular service in the grade of Deputy Nursing Superintendent or similar capacity.
- Experience: Not less than 12 years’ experience in the Nursing Cadre.
- Qualifications:
1. B.Sc in Nursing or equivalent from recognized University/Institutes.
2. DPN/DNN OR M.Sc in Psychiatric/Neuro Nursing from recognized University/Institutes. - Desirable: Should have published once in every two years a research paper in a journal of national standing and repute.

1. How can I apply for NIMHANS Nursing Recruitment 2026?
Applications must be submitted in the prescribed pro-forma through the proper channel to the Director, NIMHANS, Post Box No: 2900, Hosur Road, Bengaluru – 560 029, to reach on or before 24.01.2026. You must also send an advance copy to [email protected].
2. What is the application fee?
The application fee is Rs. 2360/- (including 18% GST) for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 1180/- for SC/ST candidates. PwBD candidates are exempted. The fee must be paid via SBI Collect link available on the NIMHANS website.
3. What is the age limit for these posts?
The maximum age limit for applying is 57 years as on the last date of receipt of the application.
4. Is this a permanent recruitment?
No, these posts are on a Deputation basis for an initial period of 1 year, extendable up to 3 years. Only officers from Central/State Govt/UT Administration/Autonomous/Statutory Bodies are eligible.
