Educational Qualification:
Project Scientist-III: Candidates Should have M.Sc. (Marine Biology/ Marine Science/ Zoology).
Project Scientist-II: Candidates Should have M.E./ M.Tech (Relevant Engineering) / M.Sc. (Marine Biology/Marine Science/Zoology/Microbiology).
Project Scientist-I: Candidates Should have B.E/B. Tech (Relevant Engineering) / M.Sc. (Marine Biology/ Marine Science/Zoology/ Microbiology/Biotechnology).
Project Scientific Assistant: Candidates Should have Diploma (Relevant Engineering) / Degree (Relevant Discipline).
Project Technician: Candidates Should have 10th Class, ITI (Relevant Trade).
Project Field Assistant: Candidates Should have Plus Two (+2).
Project Junior Assistant: Candidates Should have Any Degree.
Research Associate (RA): Candidates Should have Doctoral Degree / M.Tech (Relevant Discipline).
Senior Research Fellow (SRF): Candidates Should have B.E./B.Tech (Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/Ocean Technology) / M.Sc. in Marine Biology/ Marine Science/Microbiology/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics.
Junior Research Fellow (JRF): Candidates Should have BE / B.Tech (Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/Ocean Technology) / M.Sc. in Marine Biology/ Marine Science/Microbiology/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics.

The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) was established in November 1993 as an autonomous society under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India. NIOT is managed by a Governing Council and the Director is the head of the Institute. Major aim of starting NIOT under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, is to develop reliable indigenous technologies to solve the various engineering problems associated with harvesting of non-living and living resources in the Indian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), which is about two-thirds of the land area of India.
