Applications are invited from the interested candidates for the post of JRF to work on the R&D project titled “Nanophotonic porous-silicon based nanostructures for ultra-fast methanol sensing at room temperature” supported by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), DST, New Delhi. The selected candidate will be appointed initially for one year (on contract) and the services will be extended for next year based on the performance review

1. Position: Junior Research Fellow
2. Area of Specialization: Nanophotonic porous-silicon based nanostructures for ultra-fast methanol sensing at room temperature
3. Maximum Duration: 36 months
4. Consolidated Salary: Rs. 31,000/- (Per month for 1 st & 2nd years) + HRA as per SERB norms .Rs. 35,000/- (Per month for 3 rd years) + HRA as per SERB norms
5. Number of Positions: 01
6. Educational Qualification: B.Tech/B.E./M.Tech./M.E./MS(R)/equivalent in Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Electronics Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Material Science & Engineering/Metallurgical and Materials Engineering/ Chemical Engineering/ Nanotechnology/ Optical Communication/Photonics/ Plasmonics/ Optics/ RF/ VLSI/ Communication Engg., Optical Sensors.
7 . Applicant must be GATE/NET qualified. Those who have an M.Sc. degree in Electronics and Gate qualified are also eligible. Candidates must have at least 6.5/10 CGPA or 60 percent marks in aggregate from a recognized technical institute or university as a full-time program. Those who are appearing for M. Tech/M.E./M.Sc. last semester may also apply. Proof of M. Tech/M.E./ M.Sc. certificate has to be provided during the time of the interview

1. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test/interview.
2. The appointment will be on a purely temporary basis coterminus with the project.
3. Candidates who are already employed should produce relieving certificate from their employers, if selected.
4. The shortlisted candidates with the date of written test/interview will be intimated by email only.
1. National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal is located in Mangalore City, Karnataka State, India. The Institute was established as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) in 1960, and upgraded as National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in 2002. Mangalore is the headquarters of the coastal district of Dakshina Kannada, and boasts an important centre of education, business and trade in the state. Sri. U. Srinivasa Mallya, a visionary and a philanthropist, contributed immensely to the development of the coastal region of Karnataka, and his effort towards establishment of KREC (now NITK) is the most significant one. In recognition of his role as the founder and architect of the institute, the campus premises is named after him as Srinivasnagar.
