Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification
Qualification for Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
- Option 1 – Post-graduation Route: Candidates must hold a Post-graduation degree in Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or an average CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale (for General candidates) from a UGC-recognized University/Institute/Autonomous body. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, the qualifying percentage is relaxed by 5% (i.e., 55%) or by a CGPA of 0.5 (i.e., 6.0) on a 10-point scale.
- Option 2 – Bachelor's Degree Route: Candidates with a Full-time Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent with a minimum of 75% aggregate marks or 8.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale or equivalent.
- Final-Year Master's Candidates: Applicants in the final year of their Master's programme who have submitted their dissertation/thesis but do not yet have final-semester results are eligible to apply, provided they submit their results by 30 November 2026.
- Desirable Qualification: CSIR/UGC-NET or GATE qualification is preferred.
Selection Process & Written Test Exemption
The selection process for the NIT Kurukshetra JRF recruitment 2026 consists of two stages conducted in physical (offline) mode at NIT Kurukshetra:
- Written Test (Physical Mode): The syllabus for the written examination in the respective disciplines is as per the GATE/NET curriculum. Candidates who have already qualified GATE, NET, or any other national-level examination are exempted from the written test and will be considered directly for the interview stage.
- Interview (Physical Mode): Candidates shortlisted after the written test (or exempted candidates) will appear for a personal interview at NIT Kurukshetra.
Only shortlisted candidates will be informed about the exact written test and interview schedule via email. Candidates must ensure they provide a valid and functional email address in their application.
