Eligibility for Project Scientist-I

  • Essential Qualification:
    • Master’s Degree in Computer Sciences/Computer Science & Engg./Information Technology or its equivalent OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized University with at least 60% marks.
    • Bachelor of Engineering/Technology in Electronics and Communication or equivalent with at least 60% marks.
    • Master’s Degree in Physics/Applied Physics/Atmospheric Sciences/Earth Sciences OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant subject with at least 60% marks.
    • Master’s degree in Science or Technology in Earth Sciences/Chemical Sciences/Hydrochemistry/Environmental Sciences/Environmental Biotechnology OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology in Chemical Technology/Chemical engineering with at least 60% marks.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject with at least first class (60%) marks.
    • Master’s Degree in Geology/Applied Geology/Earth Sciences/Geological Sciences/Marine Geology OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant subject with at least 60% marks.
  • Experience:
    • Two years’ experience/knowledge in the development of Scientific/Web Applications using Java, Struts, JSP, HTML, CSS, etc.
    • Minimum two years post-qualification experience in operation/maintenance/management of satellite/radio communication or data acquisition with scientific instruments.
    • Two years of experience in operation/maintenance/handling of different scientific instruments or data collection/analysis.
    • Two years of relevant experience in R&D related to geochemistry/hydrochemistry/isotope geochemistry.
    • Experience in polar field expeditions and laboratory studies using ICP-MS for paleoclimatic studies.
    • Minimum two years post-qualification experience in planning & execution of new construction projects and maintenance. Knowledge of AutoCAD software required.
    • Two years of experience in petrology/ore geology/structural geology/isotopic studies.
    • Experience in operation/maintenance/handling of scientific analytical instruments like EPMA, IRMS.
    • Experience in participating in marine scientific expeditions, sample collection, and data analysis.
    • High-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Desirable Qualification: M.E/M.Tech in relevant field.

About National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR)

India began its National Antarctic Program under Department of Ocean Development (DOD) of the Government of India in 1981. A Centre dedicated to Antarctic Expeditions, named as ‘Antarctic Study Centre (ASC)’ was established at Goa in 1988. The ASC was subsequently upgraded into an autonomous institute National Centre for Antarctic & Ocean Research (NCAOR).

The main goals of the NCAOR are to plan, promote and execute the entire gamut of polar sciences and logistic activities of India in Antarctica, the Arctic and in the Southern Ocean. NCAOR is also responsible for the construction of new research stations and maintenance of existing stations in Polar Regions.
