Eligibility Criteria

Essential Eligibility for All Posts

  • Nationality: Must be a citizen of India.
  • Educational Qualification: Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or an Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or deemed to be a University under Section-3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
  • Odia Language: Must be able to read, write and speak Odia. Must have passed Middle School Examination with Odia as a language subject OR passed High School Certificate with Odia as medium of examination OR passed Odia as a language subject in Class-VII.
  • Marital Status: A candidate having more than one spouse living is not eligible.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 years.
  • Maximum Age: 42 years (as on 01/01/2025).
  • Relaxation: Upper age limit relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST/SEBC/Women/Ex-Servicemen and by 10 years for PwD (40% or more disability).

Salary / Pay Scale

  • Group-A Services (Odisha Police Service): Rs. 56,100/- in Level-12, Cell-1 in the Pay Matrix.
  • Group-B Services (Taxation, Co-operative, Skill Dev, Labour, Excise, Tourism): Rs. 44,900/- in Level-10, Cell-1 in the Pay Matrix.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of three stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination: Two papers (Objective Type). Paper-I (General Studies) and Paper-II (General Studies - qualifying with 33% marks). Negative marking applies.
  2. Main Examination: Written examination with nine papers (including qualifying language papers in Odia and English).
  3. Interview (Personality Test): Carries 250 marks. Final merit is based on Main Exam + Interview.
