Qualification & Experience:Eminent retired or serving scientists, technologists, academicians, or civil servants who have served at the level of Secretary to the Government of India (Level 17 of the Pay Matrix in the 7th CPC).
Age Limit:Maximum 65 years. The appointment will be made for a period of three years or till attainment of 65 years of age, whichever is earlier.
Pay & Emoluments:
Pay Level: Level 17 (₹2,25,000).
Basic Pay (less pension): ₹1,12,500 + DA, as applicable. Entitlements include accommodation/HRA, staff car, newspaper/telephone bill reimbursement, and briefcase/office bag reimbursement every three years.
Selection Procedure:
- High-level Search-cum-Selection Committee appointed by the Government of India.
- Approval of Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC).
Note: The Search-cum-Selection Committee may also consider other names apart from the applicants.

RAC, the Recruitment and Assessment Centre of DRDO was set up on 23 July 1985 after getting exemption from the purview of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). It is situated at Lucknow Road, Timarpur, Delhi. RAC has undertaken various recruitment programmes to induct scientists each year in variety of scientific and engineering disciplines relevant to DRDO Laboratories and assessed the suitability of DRDO scientists for promotion to next higher grade through duly constituted Assessment Boards/ Peer Committee.
