About TRAI and the Vacancy

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is a statutory body established under the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Act, 1997. TRAI regulates telecom services, protects the interests of service providers and consumers, and promotes orderly growth of the telecom sector. Since 2004, the functions of regulation of Broadcasting and Cable Services have also been entrusted to TRAI.

TRAI Headquarters at New Delhi has issued Advertisement No. 1-11/2026-HR dated 14 August 2026 to fill one (1) post of Junior Hindi Translator on deputation on foreign service terms, initially for a period of two years. This notification is addressed to all Ministries, Departments of the Government of India, State Governments, Public Sector Undertakings, Statutory and Autonomous Bodies.

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

This post is open to officers of the Central Government, State Governments, Union Territory Administrations, Autonomous Bodies, Statutory Organisations, Public Sector Undertakings, recognised Universities, or recognised Research Institutions who meet the following criteria:

  • Condition (i) – Eligibility Stream: The applicant must be holding an analogous post on a regular basis in the parent cadre or department.
  • Educational Qualification: One of the following –
  1. Master's Degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level from a university or institute recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC); OR
  2. Master's Degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level from a UGC-recognised university or institute; OR
  3. Master's Degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level from a UGC-recognised university or institute; OR
  4. Master's Degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level from a UGC-recognised university or institute; OR
  5. Master's Degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at the degree level from a UGC-recognised university or institute.
  • Additional Requirement 1: Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa.
  • Additional Requirement 2: Not less than two (2) years' experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in a Central or State Government Office, including Government of India Undertaking, and possession of proficiency in computer applications.

Appointment Terms & Conditions

  • The appointment will be made on deputation on foreign service terms for an initial period of two years.
  • The terms of deputation will be governed by instructions issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoP&Trg.), OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay II) dated 17 June 2010, as amended from time to time.
  • The officer continues to be under the administrative control of the parent organisation/cadre during the deputation period.
  • Officers already on deputation or on a deputation basis in TRAI or any other organisation are not eligible.

Selection Process & Application Procedure

  1. Online Registration: Eligible applicants must apply online only through the official TRAI vacancy portal at https://vacancies.trai.gov.in.
  2. Forwarding by Parent Organisation: After online registration, all Ministries/Departments, Central/State Public Sector Undertakings and Statutory and Autonomous Bodies are requested to forward the duly attested hard copy of the filled online application form (downloaded from the portal) to TRAI.
  3. Documents to be enclosed: Attested copies of ACRs/APARs for the last five years, vigilance/disciplinary clearance, and cadre clearance of the eligible candidate.
  4. Service Availability Clause: Only officers whose services could be placed at the disposal of TRAI immediately in the event of their selection will be considered.
