NSRY Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – Golden Opportunity for ITI Passed Candidates

The Naval Ship Repair Yard (NSRY), Sri Vijaya Puram, under the Ministry of Defence (Navy), has released the official notification for Technician (Vocational) Apprentice Programme (IT-03 Batch) for the training year 2026-27. This is a golden opportunity for ITI-qualified candidates to gain hands-on experience in a defence establishment. A total of 50 vacancies are available across 13 trades. There are 50 vacancies spread across 13 designated ITI trades. The numbers are indicative and may change.

Eligibility Criteria for NSRY Apprentice 2026

• Nationality: Indian Nationals only.
• Educational Qualification: Matriculation (10th) passed and ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in the relevant trade.
• Physical Standards: As per Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 – must be medically fit.
• Previous Training: Candidates who have already undergone or are undergoing apprenticeship in the same trade under the Apprentices Act, 1961, are not eligible.

Reservation of Vacancies

Reservation is as per Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 applicable in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. 3% horizontal reservation for Persons with Disability (PwD) and 3% for Ex-Servicemen / their children / children of armed forces personnel. Vacancies are adjusted within respective categories.

Stipend for NSRY Apprentice

Selected apprentices will be paid a monthly stipend as per the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 as amended. The exact amount is not specified in the notification. Registration on the apprenticeship portal and execution of a contract is mandatory for stipend payment.

Age Limit

Minimum age is 18 years as on the day before training commencement. No upper age limit as per MSDE OM dated 20 December 2021.

Selection Process

1. Merit List: Based on aggregate marks in ITI and Std X (10th).
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates called for interview (50 marks) at NSRY, Sri Vijaya Puram.
3. Final Merit: Based on interview marks; tie-breaking by date of birth or alphabetical order.
4. Document Verification & Medical Exam: Original documents and medical fitness certificate required.

After training, apprentices must pass a trade test to receive the National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC). NSRY is not obligated to offer employment after training.

2. Register and fill the application form after the portal opens (from 3rd day of publication).
3. Upload required documents in colour PDF (A4, up to 200 KB each).
4. Provide valid mobile number and email ID.
5. Submit before 10 October 2026, 2359 hrs.
6. Retain the acknowledgement printout for future use.
