Educational Qualification: M.Phil/Ph.D

Applications are invited from eligible candidates (Indian Nationals only) on a plain paper / prescribed format for the following temporary position(s) in the research project entitled Sub-seasonal through Interannual Variability of river discharge and its impact on phytoplankton biomass in the Bay of Bengal sponsored by the IOE-Directorate, University of Hyderabad vide Sanction Order No. UOH/IOE/RC1/RC1-20-015 dated 07-12-2020

1. Name of the Post: Research Associate I

2. Number of positions: 01

3. Fellowship / Honorarium / Salary / Stipend: Rs. 47,000 p.m.. The IOE/UoH rules will apply in terms of tax deductions, etc.

4. HRA, if applicable [email protected]%; will be subject to the UoH rules

5. Tenure of the Post: Initially for one year, but extendable based on the performance.

6. Essential Qualifications:

a) A Doctorate degree from a recognized University in Meteorology/Atmospheric Sciences/Physical Oceanography or related sciences with Meteorology/Oceanography as main subject.

b) Experience in using regional ocean models such as the MIT GCM, ROMS. Exposure to applications to ocean biogeochemistry/estuarine dynamics will be an advantage.

c) Should be able to port the regional model onto the HPC and conduct experiments.

d) Well acquainted in computer programming in Fortran, C, shell programming, etc., and experience on Linux/UNIX platforms.

e) Publications in standard peer-reviewed journals related to atmospheric/oceanic/climate sciences,.

g) Knowledge of Ocean circulation in the NIO, and the relevance of monsoon.

h) Demonstrated skill in data analysis using GrADS/Ferret/NCL/CDO/MATLAB.

7 Desirable Qualifications: Peer-reviewed publications in standard journals such as the JGR, JPO, Climate Dynamics, GRL, etc., listed in SCOPUS. Motivation and enthusiasm to carry out frontline research and publish in top journals, and ability to write research manuscripts independently.

8 Experience Those who have with minimum of three years research experience post MSc/BE and submitted their PhD thesis are also eligible.
