West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences (WBUAFS) was established on 2nd January 1995, by State Government, to impart education, training and to conduct research in veterinary and Animal Science, Dairy Science and also to cater the needs of the farming community of the State of West Bengal.

The main objective of the University is to impart education in different branches of Veterinary, Animal Science, Fishery Science and Allied Science, to liaise and established vital link between Department of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development of the State Government , Union Government and also with National & International Research Institute Specialized in the field of Veterinary, Animal Science, Fishery Science and Allied with a view to keep abreast of the latest technology to raise the level of Veterinary Studies.
