Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU), Patna has invited applications from eligible candidates for selection to the post of Associate Professor (Academic Level-13A) and Assistant Professor (Academic Level-10) in the Veterinary Faculty at Bihar Veterinary College, Patna and College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Kishanganj, vide Employment Notice No. 05/2026. Educational Qualification:
- Associate Professor: Doctoral degree in the relevant subject with 8 years’ experience as Assistant Professor or equivalent, with contribution to research/teaching/extension education evidenced by published work; OR Doctoral degree with minimum 8 years of high-quality post-doctoral research evidenced by at least 6 publications in NAAS-rated journals (7.5 or above).
- Assistant Professor: Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) at the Master’s Degree level in the relevant subject. NET is compulsory for Master’s degree holders along with one NAAS-rated publication (NET exemption available for Ph.D. holders with UGC 2009 course-work and at least two NAAS-rated publications). Ph.D., if available, shall be preferred.
Experience:
- Associate Professor: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience as specified above.
- Assistant Professor: As per the qualification criteria; NET and publications as specified.
Skills:Teaching, research, extension education, and subject matter expertise in relevant veterinary disciplines.
Salary:
Associate Professor: Rs. 1,31,400 – 2,17,100 (Academic Level-13A). Assistant Professor: Rs. 57,700 – 1,82,400 (Academic Level-10).
Age Limit: As on the last date of application. For Assistant Professor: UR (Male) - 37 years; BC/EBC - 40 years; UR (Female) - 40 years; SC/ST - 42 years. Additional relaxations for Government of Bihar employees, Divyang candidates, and BASU employees as per rules. No age limit for Associate Professor post.
Selection Procedure:
- Scrutiny of Application/Score Card (based on previous record).
- Interview (Candidates must obtain at least 50% marks; SC/ST/Divyang/Female candidates need 32% marks to be eligible for the merit list).
Application Fee:
- UR/BC/EBC Candidates: Rs. 1000/-
- SC/ST and Divyang Candidates: Rs. 250/-
- Payable via Bank Draft in favour of “Finance Comptroller, Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna”, payable at Patna.
- Fee relaxation is applicable only to original residents of Bihar, subject to valid caste certificate.

Interested and eligible candidates can apply for BASU Recruitment 2026 in offline mode only. The application form, along with self-attested relevant documents and requisite fees, should reach the Registrar by Speed Post/Registered Post only.
- Visit the Official Website: Go to www.basu.org.in and download the application form.
- Fill the Form: Fill in the required details: personal information, educational qualifications, work experience, and category details.
- Score Card: Fill up the score card in the prescribed proforma and mention the respective page number of the supporting document.
- Attach Documents: Attach self-attested copies of relevant/desired documents. Only the first page of research papers/publications showing title, author(s), date, and journal name need to be attached.
- Number Pages: Number and sign every page of the application form and its enclosures at the bottom.
- Pay Fee: Enclose the requisite non-refundable application fee via Bank Draft.
- Superscribe Envelope: Superscribe the envelope with “Application for the post of ___ Department/Discipline & Name of the College.”
- Send Application: Send the complete application to “The Registrar, Bihar Animal Sciences University, P.O.: Bihar Veterinary College, Patna – 800014” by Speed Post/Registered Post only.
For In-Service Candidates: Must apply through the proper channel; however, an advance copy with the requisite fee may be submitted by the last date, subject to production of NOC at the time of interview.
Important: Separate application forms and separate fees are required for posts at Bihar Veterinary College, Patna, and College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Kishanganj.

Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU) has been established with its headquarters at Patna through an act of Bihar State (BASU Act No. 15 of 2016, notified in the Bihar Gazette on 29 August 2016). The University became operational from 13 June 2017 with the appointment of it’s first Vice Chancellor. The new University has been carved out of the Bihar Agricultural University as two of its constituent colleges at Patna viz.
Bihar Veterinary College and Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology have been transferred to the BASU, whereas a new College of Fisheries has been established in 2018. To further expand the horizon of the University and strengthen the research and outreach, following research institutes, stations and substations are being transferred to BASU.
