The Bihar Vidhan Sabha, also known as the Bihar Legislative Assembly, is the lower house of the bicameral legislature of the Indian state of Bihar. The upper house is called the Bihar Legislative Council. The Bihar Vidhan Sabha consists of 243 members who are elected by the people of Bihar through a democratic voting process. The term of the members of the Bihar Vidhan Sabha is five years, unless dissolved earlier.
The Bihar Vidhan Sabha is responsible for passing laws and making policies for the state of Bihar. It also has the power to hold the state government accountable for its actions through various means such as question hour, calling attention motion, and no-confidence motion. The chief minister and the council of ministers are appointed by the governor of Bihar, who is the head of the state.
The Bihar Vidhan Sabha building is located in the capital city of Patna. It was inaugurated in 1917 and is a historic building that has witnessed many important events in the history of Bihar. The Bihar Vidhan Sabha has a rich legacy of democratic values and principles and is committed to upholding the same.
