Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET) 2026
The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha (BSE Odisha) has released Notification No. 2198/Conf-I dated 1 August 2026 inviting online applications for the Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET) 2026. Passing OSSTET is a mandatory eligibility requirement for appointment as a teacher in Secondary Schools (Government/Government-Aided/Recognised Unaided) in Odisha. Online applications are open from 3 August 2026 to 17 August 2026, and the test will be held on 30 September 2026.

Educational Qualification:Varies by category and stream. For Category I (Education Teachers), requires a relevant Bachelor's degree with 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) and a B.Ed. or equivalent teacher training qualification. For Category II (Physical Education Teacher), requires +2 pass with C.P.Ed./D.P.Ed./B.P.Ed./M.P.Ed.
Language Proficiency (Odia): Candidates must be able to read and write Odia. This can be satisfied by passing HSC (or equivalent) with Odia as a subject, or +2 with Odia as an examinable subject, or passing the Odia Examination of HSC/10th Standard Single Subject Examination conducted by BSE Odisha. For language teachers (Hindi/Classical), passing the Odia Examination of 7th/8th Standard is also acceptable.
Skills:Teaching, subject matter expertise, child development and pedagogy knowledge, classroom management, communication, and proficiency in Odia and English.
Age Limit:No age limit is specified for appearing in the OSSTET exam. The pass certificate remains valid until the candidate reaches the upper age limit prescribed for teacher recruitment under applicable rules.

- Rs. 900/- for General/OBC candidates
- Rs. 600/- for SC/ST candidates
- Fee once paid is non-refundable.
Exam Pattern
OSSTET 2026 consists of two papers, each with 150 multiple-choice questions (1 mark each), a duration of 2 hours 30 minutes, and no negative marking.

Qualifying Marks:
- General Category: 45% (68 marks out of 150) in each paper.
- SC/ST/PH/SEBC: 35% (53 marks out of 150) in each paper.
Certificate Validity: The OSSTET Pass Certificate remains valid until the candidate reaches the upper age limit prescribed for teacher recruitment under applicable rules. There is no restriction on the number of attempts.
📝 How to Apply Step-by-Step
OSSTET 2026 applications must be submitted online only at www.bseodisha.ac.in. The registration link is active 24×7 from 3 August 2026 to midnight of 17 August 2026.
- Visit Official Website: Go to www.bseodisha.ac.in and click "Click Here for New Registration", or log in with the registered mobile number and password if already registered.
- Initial Registration: Enter Name, Password, Mobile Number, e-Mail ID, and Caste Category, then click "Submit". Caste details entered at this stage cannot be corrected later.
- Login: Log in again using the registered mobile number and password.
- Verification: Enter the verification code sent to the registered mobile number and click "Verify".
- Pay Fee: Proceed to pay the application fee online.
- Fill Application Form: Fill up the four sections of the application form in order: Personal Information, Eligibility Criteria, Educational Qualification, and Declaration.
- Upload Documents: Upload all required certificates, documents, and photographs in the specified format and size.
- Review and Submit: Review all filled information at the Declaration stage, make edits if necessary, and tick the declaration box.
- Final Submission: Click "YES – FINAL SUBMIT" to complete registration. No further editing is possible after this step.
- Download Receipt: Download and preserve the print copy of the Acknowledgement Receipt. Registration is complete only after this receipt is downloaded; without it, the admit card cannot be generated.
