Morar Cantonment Board was established in April, 1956 by a Gazette notification issued by the Government of India. As per 2011 census the civil population residing within the Cantonment is 48,464. Therefore, it is a Category II Cantonment in which population exceeds ten thousand but does not exceed fifty thousand. The Board consists of 14 members, out of which 7 members are elected by the general public to represent their respective wards and remaining serve in ex-officio/nominated capacity. Since, its inception, the settlement morphology has changed from rural to urban. The Cantonment has become contiguous to the nearby Municipality. The Board is dedicated to provide basic urban infrastructure and services to the residents of Morar Cantonment.
