🏛️ Organization Overview

The Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB) is located in the prestigious Knowledge City, Sector-81, Mohali. It stands as the only institute in India specifically mandated to bridge the gap between primary agricultural processing and the creation of high-value industrial bioproducts. CIAB’s mission is to enhance the value of crop residues and processing wastes through biosynthetic technology, synthetic biology, and chemical catalysis.

Strategically, CIAB plays a vital role in the Government of India’s mission to double farmers' income by developing technologies that turn "waste to wealth." The institute houses world-class laboratories and pilot plant facilities, making it a pivotal hub for researchers aiming to translate laboratory-scale innovations into industrial applications. Career opportunities at CIAB are characterized by interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly with its neighbor, the National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI).
