Experience Required
- Advocates: Minimum 7 years of continuous practice as an advocate as on 15 July 2026.
- Judicial Officers: Must have completed 7 years as an advocate before joining subordinate judiciary, or 7 years combined experience.
- Persons in judicial service: Combined experience of 7 years or more as advocate or judicial officer.
Candidates must be a citizen of India. Those dismissed from government service are not eligible.

Pay Scale
Selected officers will be placed in the J-5 pay scale: ₹1,44,840 – ₹1,94,660 per month.
Selection Process
The selection consists of three stages:
- Preliminary Exam (Objective): 150 marks, 150 MCQs, 2 hours, 25% negative marking. Qualifying stage.
- Mains Exam (Written): Four papers totaling 750 marks. Minimum 45% in each paper and 50% aggregate for General; 40% per paper and 45% aggregate for SC/ST/PwD.
- Viva-Voce: 250 marks. Minimum 50% for General, 45% for reserved. Final merit based on Mains + Viva aggregate.
