Steel Authority of India Limited, Durgapur Steel Plant (SAIL DSP) has announced recruitment for Consultant positions on a temporary basis. This is a walk-in interview opportunity for qualified medical professionals, including GDMOs and Specialists in Surgery, Paediatrics, and G&O, with attractive consolidated pay scales. Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for GDMO (General Duty Medical Officer)

• Essential: MBBS degree from a recognized institute.
• Requirements: Must be registered with Medical Council of India (MCI) or National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Council (SMC). Valid practitioner's license mandatory. Internship Completion Certificate required.
• Experience: Relevant work experience will be given preference.

Eligibility for Specialist (Surgery)

• Essential: MBBS with PG Diploma/Degree in Surgery/General Surgery.
• Requirements: Must be registered with Medical Council of India (MCI) or National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Council (SMC). Valid practitioner's license mandatory.
• Experience: Relevant work experience will be given preference.

Eligibility for Specialist (Paediatrics)

• Essential: MBBS with PG Diploma/Degree in Paediatrics.
• Requirements: Must be registered with Medical Council of India (MCI) or National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Council (SMC). Valid practitioner's license mandatory.
• Experience: Relevant work experience will be given preference.

Eligibility for Specialist (G&O)

• Essential: MBBS with PG Diploma/Degree in Gynaecology & Obstetrics.
• Requirements: Must be registered with Medical Council of India (MCI) or National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Council (SMC). Valid practitioner's license mandatory.
• Experience: Relevant work experience will be given preference.

General Eligibility Conditions

• All qualifications must be from institutes recognized by State Government/Central Government.
• Essential qualifications must be valid as of the date of issue of advertisement (18/12/2025).
• Must be an Indian national.
• Who Cannot Apply: Ex-employees of SAIL separated through Voluntary Retirement. Non-SAIL ex-employees separated through Voluntary Retirement. Ex-employee doctors must provide a self-certificate declaring they have not opted for Voluntary Retirement.

Salary & Benefits

• GDMO (MBBS): Rs. 90,000/- per month (consolidated).
• Specialist with PG Diploma: Rs. 1,20,000/- per month (consolidated).
• Specialist with PG Degree: Rs. 1,60,000/- per month (consolidated).
• Working Hours: Minimum 8 hours a day for 6 days a week (48 hours a week). Remuneration is pro-rated if engagement is less.
• Communication: Post-paid SIM under CUG (MBBS: Rs. 350/-, PG Diploma/PG Degree: Rs. 500/- monthly ceiling).
• Housing: Company accommodation (2 BHK or equivalent) available on payment basis subject to availability (No HRA admissible).
• Medical Benefits: Available for self and spouse only at DSP hospital without referrals during engagement period.
• Leave: 10 days leave in a year subject to prior approval.
• Other Benefits: No PF or Gratuity unless specified. Private practice allowed subject to no disruption in working hours.

Selection Process

The selection process involves the following steps:

1. Document Verification: Candidates found eligible by the Verification Committee will be allowed to appear in the interview.
2. Walk-in Interview: A personal interview will be conducted by the Interview/Selection Board constituted by DSP.
3. Merit Panel Formation: A discipline-wise and caste-category wise panel will be formed in order of merit (ratio 1:1 of advertised posts to candidates in the panel). Consultants with relevant work experience will be given preference.

Note: The decision of the Interview/Selection Board is final and binding. The panel will be valid for a period of six months from the date of approval.

• Photo Identity Proof (EPIC/PAN/Aadhar Card/valid Driving License)
• Caste/category community certificate (if applicable)
• Recent passport size colour photograph
• Self-certificate for ex-employees declaring they have not opted for Voluntary Retirement

Tenure of Engagement

• Initial Tenure: 1 year
• Extension: 1 year at company's discretion
• Maximum Period: 3 years
• Re-engagement: No bar
• Upper Age Limit: 69 years (as on 18/12/2025) for engagement, subject to maximum tenure age of 70 years.
• Termination: Either party can terminate with one month's notice. Immediate termination possible for medical unfitness, poor performance, etc.
