Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification
Candidates must be an Indian National and possess the qualifications prescribed under the R&P Rules, 2015 as on the date of submission of the online application.
Stenographer (Group-C)
- Educational Qualification: Graduation from a recognised university.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience as Steno-typist, Judgment Writer, or Stenographer in any government office or reputed organisation.
- Stenography Speed: 100 W.P.M. in English stenography, with accurate transcription of the dictated matter within 5 times the time allotted for dictation.
- Typing Speed: 50 W.P.M. in English on computers, where a separate test shall be held. A maximum of 10% mistakes in transcription and typing are permitted.
Age Relaxation
- Bonafide reserved categories of H.P. (except EWS) and persons with benchmark disabilities of H.P.: Five years relaxation in the upper age limit, applicable only where the post is reserved for these categories.
- HP Government employees: Admissible as per orders/directions of the Hon'ble High Court of H.P. and instructions of the Government of H.P.
Selection Process & Screening Clause
Recruitment for the posts of Stenographer (Group-C) shall be on the basis of a competitive examination as per Schedule-IV (Part-H) of the R&P Rules, 2015. The selection process includes:
- English Stenography Test — candidates must demonstrate a speed of 100 W.P.M. in English stenography with accurate transcription within 5 times the dictation time.
- English Typing Test on Computers — a speed of 50 W.P.M. in English must be achieved on computer, with no more than 10% mistakes permitted.
No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for appearing in the examination or tests. Eligible candidates will be informed through SMS alerts and email regarding examination and test schedules.

Key Instructions
- Applications are acceptable ONLY in online mode; applications received through any other mode will be rejected straightway.
- Candidates already in Government or Semi-Government service must submit their application through the proper channel with an NOC within 15 days from the last date of receipt of application. Job trainees, contract, casual, ad-hoc, daily-wage, and work-charged employees are exempt from producing NOC.
- The category once claimed will be treated as final; no representation or correspondence will be entertained.
- Experience and qualification shall be reckoned as on the date of submission of the online application.
- Once submitted, an application cannot be withdrawn or modified; however, it can be cancelled without a refund of the fee.
- If an EWS candidate is not available for selection, the post will be de-reserved and filled from a non-EWS unreserved candidate.
- The number of vacancies may be increased or decreased in future due to administrative reasons.
