IIT Jammu invites online applications from qualified Indian Nationals for filling up following post on Outsource basis (through manpower agency):

5. Essential:

Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering /Material Engineering /Chemical Engineering. OR M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering / Material Engineering / Chemical Engineering with atleast 60% marks or equivalent CGPA and atleast 3 years of relevant experience (Experience earned during PhD may be considered) OR B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical/Material/Chemical with atleast 60% marks or equivalent CGPA and atleast 5 years of relevant experience

6. Desirable:

Preference would be given to candidates with relevant research experience and possessing working knowledge of all the lab equipment like TEM/XRD/HRMS/XPS/Raman Spectroscopy (Imaging), SEM/EDX, AFM, Optical microscope, Profilometery, Atomic probe microscopy, Processing of Ceramics/ Polymers etc.

7. Job specifications

a) Responsible for operating, maintaining and troubleshooting analytical instruments, such as TEM, SEM, and XRD together with sample preparation following standard protocols.

b) Assisting, guiding, and training students with the instruments. 

c) Assisting the concerned faculty members in teaching laboratory components of institute-courses, training sessions, workshops etc. involving the instruments. 

d) Writing funding proposal to ISRO/BRC etc. 

e) Interpreting test results from the above instruments.

8. Key responsibilities:

A Research Officer /Project Officer will be responsible for augmentation and maintaining the water testing lab facility, help in conducting the experiments/tests on water quality parameters such as pH, conductivity, hardness, BOD, COD, heavy metals, etc. and air, noise quality monitoring and shall assist faculty members in conducting field/site tests/sampling and students in conducting the experiments, if required.
