Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for the post of Research Associate (RA-II) * at various Schools of Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata.

1. Name of the Post: Research Associate (RA-II)

3. Job Description: Supervision of UG and PG research laboratories in various Schools of IACS, laboratory instruction and guidance to UG and PG students, maintenance of non-trivial research facilities of common interest of the School and research work as assigned/ approved by the School Chair.  

4. Tenure: This position is temporary (initially for one year and can be extended for another year based on satisfactory performance). The candidate will have no right to claim (explicit or implicit) any post in the institute.

5. Fellowship: As per rules of IACS

6. Essential qualification: 

a) PhD in Chemistry with minimum 2 years post-PhD research experience

b) PhD in Chemistry with minimum 2 years post-PhD research experience

c) PhD in Chemistry with minimum 2 years post-PhD research experience

d) PhD in Physics with minimum 2 years post-PhD research experience

e) PhD in Physics with minimum 2 years post-PhD research experience

f) PhD in Physics with minimum 2 years post-PhD research experience

g) PhD in Physics with minimum 2 years post-PhD research experience

h) PhD in Chemistry/ Biology with minimum 2 years post-PhD research experience

i) PhD in Mathematics/ Science with minimum 2 years post-PhD research experience

7. Desired qualification: 

a) Past research experience in experimental Organic Chemistry with impressive research publications in reputed journals and impressive academic track record.

b) Past research experience in experimental Inorganic/ Physical Chemistry with impressive research publications in reputed journals and impressive academic track record.

c) Past research experience in experimental Materials Sciences with impressive research publications in reputed journals and impressive academic track record.

d) Past research experience in experimental Materials Sciences with impressive research publications in reputed journals and impressive academic record.

e) Past research experience in theoretical Physics and computational physics with experience in computer programming and impressive research publications in reputed journals and impressive academic record.

f) Past research experience in experimental condensed matter physics with impressive research publications in reputed journals and impressive academic track record

g) Past research experience in Interdisciplinary Sciences (in the interface of Physics and Chemistry) with impressive research publications in reputed journals and impressive academic track record

h) Past research experience in Interdisciplinary Sciences (in the interface of Chemistry and Biology) with impressive research publications in reputed journals and impressive academic track record

i) Past research experience in Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer/Computational Sciences with experience in Python, Statistics with R, Mathematica, impressive research publications in reputed journals and impressive academic track record.

Selection Procedure

1. Vacancies shown above for each School are based on specific requirements of expertise in different schools. Applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of merit. Only shortlisted candidates will be communicated via email and called for an interview for the final selection.

2. Merely satisfying the eligibility criteria does not guarantee that a candidate will be shortlisted for interview. IACS holds full right of choosing a candidate and even not selecting any, in case suitable applications are not received. A candidate applying for a given post may be considered for another post if found more suitable by the selection committee.
