Skills / Eligibility
Vacancy for Research Assistant position in the Indo-US Virtual network for COVID-19 project. 1. Title of Project: Leveraging reverse genetics strategies to study structure-function interplay of virus host attachment spike protein to design therapies for COVID-19" under the IUSSTF COVID-19 Virtual Networks. 2. Duration: 6 months 3. Post Name: Research Assistant 4. No of positions: 1 (One) 5. Essential Qualifications: MSc in Life Sciences / Biology or associated field with minimum 60% marks or equivalent degree student like MBBS students (ongoing or completed). 6. Desirable Qualification: a. Candidates must have a thorough understanding of basic knowledge on cell biology, immunology and molecular biology techniques. b. Good communication skills for scientific writing and presentation is a must. c. The candidate will be expected to engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative research work. d. Candidate should have basic biology knowledge of viral pathology and immunology and more specifically to COVID biology 7. Fellowship: 25,000 INR/month consolidated.

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata (IISER Kolkata) was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education), Government of India. IISER Kolkata is designed to reach the prestigious position in the global setting that IISc, IIMs and IITs presently enjoy. IISER Kolkata is an autonomous institution awarding its own degrees. The central theme of the IISER Kolkata is to integrate education with research so that undergraduate teaching as well as doctoral and postdoctoral research work could be carried out in basic sciences.
The basic idea of IISER is to create research Universities of the highest calibre in which teaching and education will be totally integrated with the state of the art research. These Universities are devoted to Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching in sciences in an intellectually vibrant atmosphere of research. One of the important objectives of creating these Universities is to make education and careers in basic sciences more attractive by providing opportunities in integrative teaching and learning of sciences and break the barriers of traditional disciplines.
