Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), Delhi invites applications from young and meritorious Indian nationals who are creative, have passion and desire to pursue R&D in the field on radioactive water purification under DST project entitled “Identification of the radioactivity in the ground/surface water sources of Delhi NCR and development of the suitable devices for radioactive water purification” proposal no. DST/TMD/EWO/WTI/2K18/05 (C).

3. Essential Educational Qualification:

a. A first class M.Tech/M.Sc. in Environmental Science/ Analytical Chemistry, Toxicology or equivalent with 02 years research experience in the relevant field.

b. Minimum 01 research paper published in SCI journals, having valid LS/NET/GATE score

4. Desired Qualification: Preference will be given to the candidate who have submitted/ awarded a PhD degree in Environmental Sciences or Chemistry

5. Stipend (Monthly): Rs.35,000/ + HRA as per rule (As per Fellowship granted by funding agency)

6. Tenure/Duration: Tenure of SRF (subject to efficient progress/output) will be till the completion of the project (PDC) i.e. 01.12.2022 (likely to be extended), as per DST rule.

7. Nature of the work:

Field survey, mapping and sample collection from different water bodies, reservoirs, and to estimate the concentration of the radioactive ions in the water samples along with estimation of toxicological concentration of radioactive ions in the water.

Selection Procedure

Written Test may be conducted for JRFs from 0930-1030 hrs. (depending on the number of candidates appearing on the date of interview) and only qualified candidates will be interviewed on the same day.

Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Allied Sciences (INMAS) is a laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Located in New Delhi, it is involved in Nuclear medicine research and responding to nuclear accidents and explosions. The department of nuclear medicine under the institute offers a two year diploma in radiation medicine since 1968, making it the first formal training program in nuclear medicine in the world.

The origin of the institute can be traced back to the establishment of a Radiation Cell in 1956 at Defence Science Laboratory, Delhi. The initial assignment was to undertake a study on the consequences of the use of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction. The cell was later upgraded to Radiation Medicine Division in 1959 and to the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences in 1961.
