The Institute of Rail Transport (IRT hereinafter referred to as INSTITUTE) was incorporated in 1964 as an autonomous society with patronage from Ministry of Railways with headquarters in New Delhi. The Institute has centers in Headquarter of all Zonal Railways and Production Units under the Railway Ministry. The Institute serves as repository of ideas and thoughts on matters of transport and logistics. As an association the Institute focuses on issues of topical interest impinging on development and modernization of transport and logistics systems. By imparting knowledge on railways and other modes like road, reverie, sea and air transport, the Institute strives to develop a holistic approach to the transport and logistics needs of the country.
