Sainik Schools are residential schools established with the primary aim of preparing cadets academically, physically & mentally for providing a career in the Armed Forces through entry into the NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY AND INDIAN NAVAL ACADEMY. These schools are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The other objectives of the scheme are:
(a) To remove regional imbalances in the Officer cadre of the Defence Services.
(b) To develop qualities of body, mind and character which enable the young boys of today to become good and useful citizens of tomorrow.
(c) To bring Public School Education within the reach of the common man.
