The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi, through its Department of Curriculum Studies & Development (DCS&D), has invited applications for 5 contractual research positions under three PAC-approved programmes for the year 2026-27. This is a direct walk-in interview recruitment – no written exam. The posts include 1 Senior Research Associate (SRA) and 4 Junior Project Fellows (JPFs). This is an excellent opportunity for postgraduates in Education, Sciences, Social Sciences, or Languages to contribute to NCERT's curriculum development work on a temporary basis. The walk-in interview will be held on 15 July 2026 at the NCERT campus in New Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- SRA (Programme 7.01): Post Graduation in Mathematics / Science / Social Science / Language / Education with minimum 55% marks (General) / 50% marks (SC/ST/PH). Experience: 2 years in relevant field. Desirable: B.Ed./M.Ed., computer proficiency (MS Office, data analysis), fieldwork experience.
- JPF (Programme 7.01): Post Graduation in Mathematics / Science / Social Science / Language / Education with minimum 55% marks (General) / 50% marks (SC/ST/PH). Desirable: B.Ed./M.Ed., computer skills, fieldwork experience.
- JPF (Programme 7.03): Same qualification as above. Desirable: B.Ed./M.Ed., computer skills, data processing.
- JPF (Programme 7.04): Same qualification as above. Desirable: B.Ed./M.Ed., computer skills, translation experience from English to Hindi and vice versa.
Important: Experience must be related to School Education. M.Phil/Ph.D. time will not count as experience.
Age Limit (as on 15 July 2026)
- SRA: Below 45 years.
- JPF: Below 40 years.
- Age Relaxation: As per GoI norms (SC/ST: 5 years, OBC: 3 years, PwD: 10 years etc.).
Mandatory Documents for Interview
- Duly filled application form (prescribed format from notification).
- Self-attested copies of educational certificates, experience certificates.
- Original certificates for verification.
- Salary slip/bank statement/ITR (for SRA and any post with consolidated pay >= Rs. 40,000).
- SC/ST/PH certificate (if applicable).
- NOC from current employer (if employed).
- Recent passport-size photograph.
Selection Process (Walk-in Interview)
There is no written examination. Selection will be based solely on the walk-in interview scheduled for 15 July 2026. Candidates will be assessed on qualifications, relevant experience, and interview performance. The recruitment is purely contractual and temporary.

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is an autonomous organisation set up in 1961 by the Government of India to assist and advise the Central and State Governments on policies and programmes for qualitative improvement in school education. The major objectives of NCERT and its constituent units are to: undertake, promote and coordinate research in areas related to school education; prepare and publish model textbooks, supplementary material, newsletters, journals and develops educational kits, multimedia digital materials, etc. organise pre-service and in-service training of teachers; develop and disseminate innovative educational techniques and practices;collaborate and network with state educational departments, universities, NGOs and other educational institutions; act as a clearing house for ideas and information in matters related to school education; and act as a nodal agency for achieving the goals of Universalisation of Elementary Education. In addition to research, development, training, extension, publication and dissemination activities, NCERT is an implementation agency for bilateral cultural exchange programmes with other countries in the field of school education. The NCERT also interacts and works in collaboration with the international organisations, visiting foreign delegations and offers various training facilities to educational personnel from developing countries.
