Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up purely temporary position of one Research Associate-III in the DBT project entitled “Genetic engineering of ubiquitin-proteasome pathway gene (SIRPT4a) for providing tolerance against ToLCNDV in tomato”, of Dr. Manoj Prasad, Scientist, NIPGR. The details of the position is as under
1. Post Name: Research Associate III (one post)
2. Qualification:
i. Candidates having Ph.D. degree (awarded) in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/Plant Molecular Biology or any other related field are eligible to apply. The candidate should have a good academic record (throughtout 1 st class) and research experience in plant- pathogen interaction.
ii. At least two first-authored publication in peer-reviewed international journals with JCR impact factor are desirable. Candidate having research experience in the area of advanced molecular virology will be given preference.
3. The above positions is completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. The fellowship/emolument amount for the above position is as sanctioned in the project and as per DBT/DST norms.
4. The initial appointment will be for one year or till the tenability of the project whichever is earlier and the same can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority.
5. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms.
6. The appointment may be terminated any time by giving one month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR
7. Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project.

Selection Procedure
A web-link with date and time of online interview will be e-mailed to the shortlisted candidates only. The candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be interviewed. The National Institute of Plant Genome Research (formerly known as National Centre for Plant Genome Research) is an autonomous institution aided by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The Institute's establishment coincides with the 50th anniversary of India's independence as well as birth anniversary of Prof. (Dr.) J. C. Bose. The formal announcement was made on November 30th 1997. This Institute has already placed India among the major contributors to plant genomics. It is hoped that in coming years, the ongoing efforts of NIPGR will allow India to emerge as one of the most important national and international resource institutes for material, knowledge and technologies in the areas of functional, structural, evolutionary and applied genomics of plants, including crop plants.
Genomics research is providing bridges between different branches of natural sciences and as a result it has seen logarithmic growth over last two decades. All biology research has been permeated by genomics and new ways of tailoring crops for the economic production of grains, vegetables, fruits, fibers, beverages, herbal medicines, pharmaceuticals and industrial molecules are emerging. The world is on the eve of bountiful harvests for mitigation of hunger and malnutrition and heralding of healthy living. NIPGR aims to contribute in the achievement of such hopes arising out of the current pace of genomics research.
