The National Institute of Technology, Arunachal Pradesh (NIT Arunachal Pradesh) was inaugurated on 18th August 2010 as a proud member of a group of ten new NITs established across the nation. These institutions were founded as centers of excellence in technical education to address the growing need for skilled technological professionals in India, contributing significantly to national development and public welfare. NIT Arunachal Pradesh began its journey under the mentorship of NIT Durgapur, ensuring a strong academic foundation from its inception.
On 1st November 2011, the institute moved into a new phase of independent operation when its first permanent Director, Prof. (Dr.) Chandan Tilak Bhunia, assumed charge. The institute initially operated from a hired building at Yupia, district Papumpare, serving as its temporary site while construction on the permanent campus progressed.
The permanent site of NIT Arunachal Pradesh is currently under construction at Jote, district Papumpare. The location is surrounded by beautiful green forests and mountains, creating a picturesque environment that is considered ideal for a noble academic atmosphere.
