The ICAR-National Research Centre on Pomegranate, Solapur (Maharashtra), was established on June 16, 2005, by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. The research centre was established to strengthen research and development infrastructure for pomegranate crop. The centre was established to fulfil the growing demand for pomegranate both in domestic and export market.
The ICAR-National Research Centre has around 52 ha of land which falls under the jurisdiction of two villages ie. Kegaon and Hiraj of Solapur district for its Laboratories and Experimental trials. The Research Centre is located at Kegaon near Solapur University 12 km away from the Solapur city.
